Everything You Need To Know About Paradox’s Empire of Sin

Ever watched The Untouchables and thought you could do it better? Empire of Sin gives you that chance, seeing you take on the role of a gangster as you swim through murky criminal waters in 1920s Chicago.

Any fan of gangster films or strategy games from Paradox is going to want to dive into this ruthless gangster game, here’s everything you need to know.

Empire of Sin Gameplay Details

Taking on the role of a mob boss in 1920s Chicago, Empire of Sin combines combat, management, and RPG systems in a deep and complex strategy game. You’ll expand territory, recruit gangsters, take on other mob bosses, defend your ground, manage your gang, and engage in turn-based squad combat to make your mark on the world.

Empire of Sin Release Date and Platforms

Empire of Sin released on December the 1st, 2020 on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch after an initial delay from the second quarter of 2020.

This means there’s no wait for you to become the kingpin of your dreams in a world filled with violent mobsters. If you want to start your journey to the top of a crime family, you can begin right now.

Empire of Sin Trailers

We first saw Empire of Sin during E3 2019, when it received a tantalising glimpse of crime in Prohibition-era Chicago:

Our first taste of the gameplay behind Empire of Sin came in the form of the gameplay trailer, shown off in August of 2019:

Finally, the game has received a last trailer, showing off the finished game in a brand new Release Trailer.

Empire of Sin Characters

There’s a tonne of bosses to choose from as your main character, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. 

Amongst the bosses you can play as, you’ll see:

  • Stephanie St. Clair
  • Al Capone
  • Elvira Duarte
  • Dean O’Banion
  • Daniel McKee Jackson
  • Mabel Ryley
  • Frankie Donovan
  • Sai Wing Mock
  • Maggie Dyer

…and more.

Empire of Sin Editions

There are three main editions available for players hoping to pick up Empire of Sin:

  • Standard Edition – The base game.
  • Deluxe Edition – Everything included in the Standard Edition as well as three weapon skin, unique execution animations, and the ‘Romeo’ gun sound effects.
  • Premium Edition – Everything included in the Deluxe Edition as well as access to two post-launch expansions and Al Capone’s Fur Coat costume.

In addition, an Expansion Pass will give you access to the two post-launch expansions as well as Al Capone’s Fur Coat.
