Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl is the next game in the widely acclaimed series that puts players into a world filled with danger, mutants, and strange anomalies that go against the laws of physics. It’s a dangerous world, and the games are beloved by a lot of people, so it’s no surprise that people are looking forward to the new entry in the series, especially as we’ve not seen one since 2009.
It also means that there are a lot of people hungry for more details on Stalker 2, and we’ve got those details for you right here. So, rather than wasting your time with any more intro, let’s get into everything we know about Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl from its release date, to details on its gameplay, multiplayer, and even the system requirements..
Stalker 2 Release date
First up is the Stalker 2 release date, which was last set as December 8th, 2022. However, the team that makes the game, GSC Game World, have pushed that back because they’re based in Kyiv in Ukraine, which means they’re trying to look after their families and friends, and have been raising money to try to do that. This was announced via NME and while many places still list the game as releasing on December 8th, it seems unlikely given the state of the world.
Stalker 2 Gameplay
You can expect Stalker 2 gameplay to follow along with the previous entries in the series, albeit with some modern additions. That means you’ll mostly be interacting with the world by shooting at things using your cobbled together weapons, but you’ll also need to keep your hunger satiated and keep an eye on your radiation levels as well. There will undoubtedly be plenty of conversation options as well, as the series thrives on player choices.
Along with that, Stalker 2 will also have a full open world. While previous Stalker games often felt a bit like open worlds, they weren’t technically open as they were broken up into different areas. That’s not going to be the case this time though, as players will be able to venture throughout The Zone freely, and probably end up getting themselves killed by wandering into somewhere they’re not meant to be.
Stalker 2 Multiplayer
While Stalker 2 won’t have multiplayer to begin with, it will apparently be receiving an update later on down the line that will add it in. The multiplayer appears to be standard deathmatch and team deathmatch modes, and will include skins and things to unlock and equip to keep players playing, and also allow them to customise their in-game avatar. Given the way this is being introduced, it seems likely that Stalker 2 will receive other updates to continue allowing the multiplayer to evolve, which could mean more modes and options down the line. That being said, there’s no word on Stalker 2 co-op yet.
Stalker 2 Trailer
While there have been a couple of Stalker 2 trailers put out into the world, the latest one, and the one that shows off gameplay, was released on June 13 2021. This trailer has five minutes of mostly gameplay, and shows off things like the player walking around the marshes watching a strange mutated creature being sucked into the air by an anomaly. It also shows off a large amount of chatting, which makes sense because there’s a lot of interesting things to learn about The Zone, which is where the game is set.
