Obsidians ‘Honey I shrunk the kids’ esque survival adventure Grounded recently released to a solid reception. The base building survival game offers some good coop fun with story elements to uncover whilst you play.
But in order to survive the backyard, you’re going to need to know what to build and how to build it. Don’t worry though. We’re here to help you out with some starter Grounded crafting recipes to set you off on your journey.
Basic tools and weapons
Some recipes will be discovered upon picking up items found laying around on the ground. Whilst others will be uncovered by analysing objects which can be done at the field station found fairly early on after starting. Or through looting and crafting of items. One of the first things you’re going to want to learn is woven fiber as it is essential for the crafting of many of your first few items. Simply find some plant fibres and analyse them, you’ll then discover that 3 plant fibres create 1 woven fibre.
Crafting woven fibre will give you the Pebblet Hammer recipe and in order to make the hammer you’ll need 3 sprig, 4 pebblet and 1 woven fibre. There are a number of basic tools you’ll want to craft right from the start that are easy to get your hands on, here they are.
Pebblet axe – Analysing a pebblet teaches recipe . Crafted with 3 sprig, 2 pebblet and 1 woven fibre.
Pebblet spear – Picking up a pebblet teaches recipe. Crafted with 2 sprig, 3 plant fibre and 1 pebblet.
Sprig bow – Looting gnat corpse for gnat fuzz teaches recipe. Crafted with 3 sprig, 4 gnat fuzz and 2 woven fibre.
Arrows – Looting a mite corpse for mite fuzz teaches recipe. Crafted with 3 sprig, 2 pebblet and 1 woven fibre.
Torch – Picking up sap teaches recipe. Crafted with 2 sprig, 3 plant fibre and 1 pebblet.
Basic armour
Just having tools and weapons when starting out in Grounded won’t be enough. You’ll also want to be able to protect yourself from attack. There are a number of different types of armour that you can craft. However, there are some basic crafts that can offer you some protection early on without much needed to make them.
In order to make armour you will need a workbench first. This is created by analysing a grass plank – which comes from cutting down green blades of grass. Then to craft the workbench you will want 3 grass planks, 4 sprig and 2 sap.
The following three item recipes are all taught by analysing a clover leaf.
Clover hood – Crafted with 4 clover leaf and 1 woven fibre.
Clover poncho – 6 clover leaf and 4 woven fibre needed to craft.
Clover shin guards – 2 sprig, 3 clover leaf and 2 woven fibre.
If you’re looking for something a little more sturdy, then you can analyse an acorn to unlock a number of acorn armour crafts. Although the acorn is a little more uncommon so you might want to wait until you have established your base a little more before going for that.
With those Grounded crafting recipes in hand, you’re well on your way to a successful survival experience.
