Just what are the Madden 22 new features I hear you say? Well, with every new iteration of EA’s flagship Madden NFL series there is always a correlating and appreciable uptick in new features and stuff to do and Madden 22 is no different. Embracing a mixture of upgraded functionality and all new bits and pieces, we’ve hopped onto the gridiron to get our faces turned into ground beef in order to bring you all the Madden 22 new features. Hut! Hut! Hut! (or something)
Coaching & Superstar X Factors
Arguably the biggest beneficiary of Madden 22’s new features, Franchise mode in Madden 22 has been given something of a proper kicking, elevating it beyond last year’s game in the process. For a start, franchise mode now allows players full reign over their coaching staff, permitting them to allocate Staff Points to unlock specialised talent trees that play to the overall strength and direction of the team for the first time by nominating defensive and offensive coordinators. Further afield, Superstar X Factors provide individual prestige players with special offensive and defensive abilities that let them make the sort of legendary plays that the Super Bowl is known for.
Weekly Strategy
Representing one of the biggest new features that has been included into Madden 22’s Franchise mode, the shiny new weekly strategy mode lets armchair gridiron generals provide detailed tactical breakdowns and strategies in order to fine-tune their team like never before. With a total of twelve different focused plans that are equally divided between offensive and defensive postures, Madden 22’s weekly strategy mode allows players to not only create their own strategies, train their players and analyse their own play calling strengths and weaknesses, but also pinpoint those very same attributes in the competition too.
The Season Engine
Underpinning Franchise mode is the new Season Engine feature for Madden 22. Essentially a system that enriches Franchise mode with interesting content, Madden 22’s Season Engine is a dynamic tool that creates over 30 different brand new scenarios for the player to sink their teeth into. From relaxed preseason scenarios to nail-biting playoffs, Madden 22’s Season Engine dynamically adjusts the scenarios depending on the choices you’ve made and the opposition that you’ve played against, creating a fresh Franchise mode experience every time.
Ultimate Team Halftime Adjustments
For the first time ever in EA’s long running Ultimate Team mode, players can now make halftime adjustments. No longer locked into failing strategies, this new feature addition to Madden 22’s Ultimate Team mode allows players to make key adjustments at halftime so that they can dynamically react to the competition. Need an opportunity to turn your fortunes around? Well now you have it.
Overhauled Superstar KO Mode
The co-op focused and easily accessible Superstar KO mode returns to Madden 22, however it does so with a veritable swathe of new features. With 1v1, 2v2 and 3v2 game types in addition to detailed playbooks and for the first time ever, actual NFL teams that will be updated throughout the year, Superstar KO mode has never been better and looks to provide a brilliantly bite-sized morsel of gridiron action for everyone to enjoy.
