With no less than sixteen characters comprising the roster in Mario Golf Super Rush, Nintendo’s latest has quite the roster of golfers that plumb depths of Nintendo’s history. Who are they and what are their special abilities though? We’re glad you asked…
Boo
A real mischief maker, Boo isn’t just capable of summoning additional boos to attack his enemies, but his Mischief Twister ability allows him to curve the trajectory of other balls. What a total git.
Bowser
With his Meteor Strike special shot that allows him to blast away balls, to his Volcano Dash that enables him to cut around the place and spit fire at players, Bowser is quite the fearsome player indeed.
Bowser Jr.
Bowser Jr. is all about stealth and opportunity, with his Smokeball smothering the area in smoke (no kidding) and his super fast dash whereupon he uses Bullet Bill to barrel into the opposition.
Chargin’ Chuck
Chargin’ Chuck is all about brute power. His Scrimmage Stinger knocks all other balls out of the way, while his gridiron styled End-Zone Dash allows him to charge and crash into foes.
Daisy
Between her Blossom Strike that knocks away other balls and her acrobatic Pinwheel Dash that can be used to knock over any other players on contact, the graceful Daisy can be quite the fierce golfer to contend with.
Donkey Kong
The rambunctious Donkey Kong can swat away other balls with his Burly Strike, while his unique DK Dash allows him to bowl his way through other golfers. On the fairway, like everywhere else, Donkey Kong is clearly not to be trifled with.
King Bob-omb
Perhaps the cheekiest of all the available golfers, King-Bob-omb is all about stymying other players. Whether with his special shot that allows him to create bombs in the landing zone, or summoning smaller Bob-ombs to hoist him through the course, the royal exploder is a problem for everyone.
Luigi
All about the ice, Luigi’s Ice Flower Freeze special shot enables him to freeze large portions of the ground upon impact. More cunningly though, it’s really Luigi’s Speed-Skate Dash ability which really troubles his foes, causing any players who are following him to slip up.
Mario
Though the star of the show, Mario is perhaps the most conservative of all the characters when it comes to abilities. His Super Star Strike knocks away other balls as soon it hits and his Moonsault Dash allows him to rock his enemies off balance. Nothing much to see here, quite honestly.
Pauline
Pauline’s special shot, the Songbird Stinger, is adept at clearing away any balls that happen to exist in its trajectory. Meanwhile, her appropriately named Diva Dash sees our cheerful lass quite literally running through the opposition, knocking them off balance in the process.
Peach
A proper lady with style to spare, Peach’s special shot doesn’t just scatter any other balls in its path, but her Ribbon Dash also sees the princess leap and dance with aplomb, destroying the balance of any nearby foes.
Rosalina
One of the most ingenious players on the roster, Rosalina can conjure a pair of Lumas to whack nearby players, causing them to lose balance. Her true strength lies in her Shooting Star special shot which allows her to transform balls into Star Bits, preventing other players from performing accurate hits. Sneaky.
Toad
Speaking of sneaky, the innocent looking Toad has few tricks up their sleeve too. Most notably, while their Tumble Dash allows Toad to knock over other players, it’s the Super Toad Strike special shot that really pays off; essentially causing the ball to grow massively in size while knocking out other balls from the vicinity.
Waluigi
Waluigi keeps other golfers guessing with his Dance-Off Dash which disorientates his enemies and the Slim Stinger special shot, which blows away all balls on its trajectory.
Wario
Another devious driver, Wario stays ahead of the game with his Lightning Blast special shot that distracts other golfers. His Jet-Pack Dash allows him to cover great distances very quickly, toppling over nearby players as he goes.
Yoshi
Yoshi knows his eggs, so it should come as little surprise that they feature prominently in his arsenal. From his Egg-Roll Dash that allows him to steamroll players atop a massive egg, to his Eggschanger special shot that enables him to morph balls into eggs, Yoshi’s no joke on the fairway.
Bonus Character – Mii
The Mii bonus character sadly doesn’t do a whole lot that can be considered special. Mii’s Power Stinger special shot allows them to blow away other balls, while the Power Dash causes them to super sprint, toppling over other players in the process.
