Valheim has taken over the world, this Viking-inspired survival game has exploded onto hard drives everywhere. Even if you’re not playing it, we guarantee your friends are.
In Valheim you craft, fight, and scavenge as you try to survive in its harsh Nordic world. But why stop at modifying the in-game world? Take crafting to the next level and check out our list of the best Valheim mods you can get your hands on right now.
Note: Valheim does not officially support mods at this time, so any modding is done at your own risk. You may want to back up your save data just in case something goes a little awry.
ValheimPlus
ValheimPlus is a gargantuan mod, one aimed at improving Valheim’s gameplay across the board. It not only features a tonne of quality of life options, but the ability to modify the stats of players, entities, and buildings. If the game’s too hard or not hard enough for you, ValheimPlus lets you tinker away and make the game play how you want it to.
Unrestricted Portals
You’ve travelled far and wide and now it’s time to return home, laden with all the goodies you’ve discovered. Except the portal won’t let certain items through, making your homeward journey a chore. Unrestricted Portals lets you change that, allowing you to decide for yourself what you want portals to restrict – if anything. Suddenly getting back to your bed is a doddle, but only if you want it to be.
Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull from Containers
Where did you put those ingredients? You won’t have to search through your containers anymore with this Valheim mod, crafting, upgrading, building, smelting, cooking…all that becomes simpler as you pull resources from containers around you. The ability to simply get on with crafting without worrying where things are makes this one of the absolute best Valheim mods you can get, at least for us.
Buildshare
Buildshare allows you to share what’s been built. Seen a creation you love or built something you want others to try out? Buildshare lets you save and load constructions quickly and easily. No longer do you have to look on with envy at the creations of others, now you can have them too in your own Valheim world.
Clock
Clock adds, well, a clock. This customisable time-mod adds a small clock to your in-game UI, letting you see what time of day or night it is with a glance. Don’t like the exact time being shown? You can replace it with a description instead, like early evening or late afternoon. You’ll never be surprised when emerging into the pitch black of night ever again.
First Person View
Get your hands dirty with First Person View, zooming you in so you’re right there in the action with your character. Never look at the back of your character’s head again with this mod, and enjoy a more up-close and personal experience of the game.
Better Archery
Become a veritable Robin Hood with an almost entirely-new archery system. With more realistic arrow physics, a new quiver system, improved aiming, and the ability to retrieve your arrows, you’ll be filling the air with volley after volley in no time.
Map Sync
Been exploring and found something you want to tell your friends about? With Map Sync you can just slap F10 when near your friends, and your map will be shared with theirs. You’ll never have to lead them by the nose or watch them get lost thanks to your vague instructions again.
