Cuban Missile Crisis Ice Crusade is a stand alone expansion for the original game and was released over ten years ago. The game plays in a similar way to the Blitzkrieg games but has an added turn based tactical deployment element that allows you to play longer strategic campaign modes. The campaign allows you to choose to play either as the US or the USSR, the game opens with some text on the side of your tactical map that gives you some of the backstory and current things going on in the world. You are given a list of units and clicking on them will show you a larger image of the unit and give you information about it. On the tactical map you will maneuver your units around to attack and defend strategic points, which can also have their own defensive forces pre-deployed in them, such as ammo storage facilities, airports, radars, etc. Some units have unique abilities such as infantry being able to dig trenches for more protection or certain units being able to lay down anti tank mines. It may not look as impressive as other more well known games released around the same time and you can likely find improved newer games but it is a good game worth a look for those interested, and helped by the low price.
