Dead Island is an action rpg game set in an island filled with zombies. It has a nice variety of scenery but you're bound to like some more than the others. Overall, it's a really nice game, even more if you have friends to play with, because the plot is non existent. This "remaster", though, is a disrespect to every gamer, but even more so to owners of the original games. Why? A blatant cash in that in no way looks better than the source material (just look up some videos and see for yourself). That's not the worst part, though. The worst part is they removed the original games from all stores. Now, here I was with a copy of the original game I bought waiting for one of my friends to buy it too but now I have to play it alone, because this is the only version available. And you can't play online between versions. With that in mind, you may think my score is pretty high, and that's because I don't want to scare newcomers away. Dead Island is a classic and everyone should experience. To bad that if you want to play it now you'll have to do it knowing you gave your money to greedy devs.
The definitive collection is definitely presents better games than their previous editions. Thankfully for owners of the original games, and myself, I got the collection for a heavy discount! Playing through the collection so far, I've noticed much better fps than the older games. Clearly, they've optimized the game to run better and the visuals haven't suffered as well. Visually, the game looks great and has already looked great. The remasters haven't done much to improve upon the graphics but they look a bit more crisper. The gameplay is still the same and nothing else has been changed. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this to any owners of the original games unless they really wanted to play through the dead island series again. I would however recommend the collection to newcomers to the series because the combat is excellent and the zombies are aplenty.
