Game description

Dungeon Hearts fuses the strategy and pattern matching of puzzle games with the kinetic pace of action games. Align magical runes as they flow along the Fatestream to attack, defend, and conjure magic in frenetic battles against a bestiary of fantastic creatures out to use those same runes against you. Chain together multiple attacks and unleash powerful combos or call upon each hero's special attacks to devastate your enemies to survive the twists and turns of Dungeon Heart's evolving gameplay. Strike down all that stand in your way and level up your brave warriors as each foe grows more powerful than the last, culminating in the final battle with The Dark One himself!

"Four spirits race across the land, burdened with tragedy. Within each lies the specter of guilt and fear, which The Dark One bends to his will to enact his resurrection. They realize the deception too late as the promise of salvation turns to betrayal. A black wind washes over the planes, turning all to ash. As the fallen heroes face the engulfing void, a spark of hope clings to life. When the demon peered into their hearts to learn their secrets, so too did they learn his..."

Controls would be better on a phone, difficult never feels right

A match three game where you try to get each hero's gems to activate together for more damage. Difficulty seems to go between being very easy to the point where losing should be impossible to extremely hard depending on what enemy you are facing. The difficult is not a gradual build up though, you might have 10 easy encounters, two hard ones, and then go back to it being easy, then suddenly have a very difficult battle. Would likely play better if done with a touch screen, archer abilities don't seem to work properly most of the time. Something like Puzzle Quest is a much better designed game with more to offer.

The cutest thing to make me mad today

This game has really bright and fun visuals. From the summary, I knew it was something I'd enjoy. I was really looking forward to this quirky little indie game; then I tried playing it. With a mouse and keyboard, this is agony. If it had been on a touchscreen (phone or tablet, for example), I might have really loved it - it feels like a great idea, and looks and sounds so good! But trying to maneuver the mouse and get the game to register a click here and there was ineffective. The team leveled up unevenly, couldn't trigger their abilities, and fell to attacks I just couldn't stop. I watched my cute little characters flail and die while I hopelessly mashed at the pieces. I tried a different mouse, but it felt like nothing would help. I played for about an hour, really hoping it would get better, then I quietly surrendered.

A fun puzzle-rhythm-RPG without a lot of story

This game is pretty interesting - it's a puzzle RPG with rhythm elements, and it's surprisingly difficult once you get to the later levels. The combat is intriguing, and the art design is simple but good. The biggest flaw in this game is that it's pretty much gameplay only - once you get past the central conceit, there's not a lot to keep you playing. Good for a little while, but it's hard to sit through the entire game.
