You don't know that you'll like these games! And they are not similar enough for me to say 'if you like 1 you'll like them both' because I didn't. 1 was incredible. 70, easy. 2 was... well, it just wasn't. 30, tops. 50% of this pack is worth getting: most of 1 and some of 2. Hotline Miami is a pseudo pretentious trip of fun violent frustrating gory action. Hotline Miami 2 is a pretentious trip up an arse. The game just doesn't end! Every level seems worse than the last AND I JUST DON'T CARE about these characters. The second game is more buggy, less refined, bloated, and unpleasant to play in every way but that intended. The gore and the violence aren't given the weight they deserve because this game does not know how to judge you the same way the first game does. The wide open levels of the second game would be okay in the first person, but here they are obnoxious. Tell me, how am I to know that there is a shooter just off screen? How about 3 screens away? Because he knows where I am! Buy the first, and if you can't get enough of it, buy spec ops. If you still want more, okay it again with a crab on your head. DON'T bother with 2 unless the crab dies.
The first Hotline Miami is a classic fast-paced, top down shooter. One hit, one kill. For you AND the enemy. This creates a frantic game of cat and mouse between you and every "bad guy" in each level. Strategy is a must and being fast is even more important. At the start of every level you choose a mask which gives a different ability and each level is scored adding to the replayability. The second game is similar to the first with one slight difference... Its even better! With more levels, characters, masks and weapons the game is even more fun and frantic than the first!
