One of the best indie games

Hotline Miami is easily one of the most enjoyable indie games I've played. It is adrenaline inducing, unique and a ton of fun. It is a hard game which can sometimes leads to a bit of rage but the feeling of completing a level is great. The overtop blood and violence adds to the unique and craziness of the game. I would recommend this game and at the price it is well worth it- 9/10

Indie gem

Hotline Miami is a top-down brawler with a very simple premise: each level is a puzzle in which you have to figure out how to take out every single enemy quickly and without getting killed yourself (which takes one single mistake). The soundtrack is amazing and the masked characters are creepy enough to make the story engaging. Hotline Miami has achieved cult status by now, and unless you're absolutely against violent video games you owe it to yourself to play it.

A very unique indie game

This is a very interesting game. Artsy, in its own way, with a surreal atmosphere and story. Addictive, adrenaline-pumping gameplay. You are an unnamed killer sent on various missions via mysterious answering machine messages. It plays sort of like a twin-stick shooter hitman/assassination game, with an 8-bit aesthetic. Really violent, and can be disturbing at times, both with the graphic enemy deaths, and the protagonist's slow descent into psychopathy and madness. Anyways, I can see why this gets so much praise. Addictive, fast-paced, gameplay, and it made me think. Also, the music is awesome and is probably one of the best feature in the game.

Unique, Risky, and Satisfying

These are the 3 words that I would use to describe Hotline Miami. The game experience is Unique. In a day and age where top-down games are few and far between, Hotline Miami takes that viewpoint and runs with it. They choose a retro-style of graphics, a top-down perspective, and a story that can leave you confused for the entire game until you finally finish. This, however, is all risky. Many people prefer 3D games in the modern era. They also prefer high graphics (with the exception of Minecraft, which was also a risk) and they probably don't want a story that seems to have been written by M. Night Shyamalan. However, Hotline Miami took all these risks. There are many details that they added that are risky. To get the good ending, you have to collect puzzle pieces along the way. They aren't presented as being necessary at all and don't seem to have correlation but they do. after killing everyone you have to walk through all the carnage you have just done to get back out. The whole masked protagonist concept. Many would rather a generic main character that they can relate to because since he lacks heavy personality, he is more likely to act similarly to you than someone that has strong and firm feelings and beliefs, But you play a protagonist that little is known about. You receive phone calls under the guise of doing a job, but you are an assassin. Then at one point you SPOILER: Fight a guy and continue your story but are actually dead END SPOILER. The story and everything felt off but it all had reasons behind it. If you didn't collect the puzzle pieces you will never know the true meaning. As for the satisfying part, it must have felt good when you bust into a room and smoothly take out all the enemies, comboing your shots and pick ups and everything else.

A Bloody Good Game

Hotline Miami will quench the thirst of anybody looking to start making the bodies hit the floor. The psychedelic art and riveting '80s synth, it would be hard to put this game down. Despite the game being brutally hard, you'll come back to it every time. During a sale, this is an absolute steal.
