About Bacon Bandit Games
We're a two-man Canadian game dev team attempting to make great games. Letter Quest Remastered is a completely rewritten version of our first game, Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey. The original Letter Quest was written in Flash and limited the platforms that we could release it on, so we spent over 600 hours rewriting it in Unity and are now proud to fully support Windows, Mac, and Linux!
I don't play very many word games, but I really enjoyed this one. It's very simple and easy to pick up and play for short bursts or long sessions. I like the music soundtrack and concept of a RPG word game. Shockingly it has a story (if you can call it that), but it's dumb and never goes anywhere. All you do is spell words with the letters they provide you to cause damage to your opponent. You earn crystals to make your character stronger or buy various potions to heal or cure status effects or give temporary stat boosts. It's hard to recommend this game to anyone other than a casual gamer, but it is well worth playing if you like Scrabble or word games.
Unless you're an English major who knows and uses fancy words on a daily basis and can accurately spell them, was a kid who was the district champion for the spelling bee, or are a frequent scrabble player, you'll probably be spending the better portion of this game using the same 3 or 4 letter words over and over again in hopes to afford the upgrades in order to make it past the last level in the game. Anyone who says differently including myself all cheated at this game by using a word scrambler. As this is necessary to help you play on hard mode, it also get old, repetitive, and extremely annoying when the game pauses from clicking off where you cannot see the letters anymore. However, where this game gets credit is in it's creativity in ways to effect the letter tiles to create additional challenges when fighting monsters in each level. Also, providing and upgrade system to enhance your character creating flow between the strength of the monsters and bosses you encounter.
Letter Quest is a simple but addicting puzzle game in which you need to spell words in order to proceed, in a rpg-like structure full of characters and quests. This new Remastered version comes with additional achievements, a new soundtrack and a Unity port. Simple game to play when you are bored, but it will provide some good quality time.
All of the Letter Quest games are very similar. Solid word games that reward you with RPG-like story and progress through levels. What Grimm's Journey Remastered offers is so many modes and quests that if you enjoy it enough, you can get literally limitless fun out of it. Basically, if you like the series, this is the one game you should have.
