Russia during the XIII century was a huge state, much larger than any other European country. Split by internal conflicts, and yet standing strong against numerous outer threats, it was attacked by the infamous Mongol Horde. They came suddenly and pierced through the country like a blazing arrow. The native people fought valiantly, led by a fierce warrior and prince, Prince Alexander Nevsky.
Real Warfare: 1242, is a realistic real-time strategy game based on authentic historic events. It invites you to experience the glorious times of princes, knights and vast battles. The player’s goal is to direct Alexander Nevsky through meticulously recreated historic battlegrounds and achieve the greatest of victories by repelling the attacks of Teutonic and Swedish knights, bringing Lithuania to peace and eliminating every single invader in 1242.

This game can be a bit of fun, although it isn't particularly amazing. The unit fighting don't feel very impactfull, with soldiers kind of being there fighting, and not particularly moving around, think of how some total war games have random soldiers just standing there not attacking, and you got that bit down. very little unit variety simple relying on types completely, basically swordsman, axemen, pikemen, there aren't any special style of units. On the graphics bit, it feels too glowy kinda shiny, it has that foggy style over it which I don't particularly like.
Real Warefare 1242. Very apt indeed. A refreshing and dynamic RTS brought forward into a somewhat saturated and declining genre. Real warfare takes place in the aforementioned year of its title in typical RTS fashion. The game lacks the variety and sheer number of different types of units you get in comparison to most RTS's at launch. But what this game lacks in variety it makes up for in unit balancing. No single unit feels overly powerful like you do in some of the other major RTS's. The lack of variety compels you to formulate a balanced mix of different units and not just the Build X amount of Y units and ZERG IT THROUGH. The downsides are that even though its an RTS, the visuals feel very dated amongst its peers of games released in 2010. Responses feel a little sluggish and requires more attention. However overall a great game if you're a fan of RTS and willing to step away from the big boys like the TW series / Starcraft / Civilisation etc. Good game for its price, though a hell of a bargain on sale.
