So short there is no time to decide if it is worth it or not

NeoJ

Even though I enjoyed playing Rising Islands I can't recommend it at all unless you got it in a bundle or something. I'm ok with linear games and such but this is a game I've completed in 90 minutes, and I'm talking about getting all the achievements, dying from time to time and restarting levels to get all the collectibles. The game is presented in three different worlds with a few levels. Rising Islands do have some nice ideas, but it is so short that you won't have enough time to actually know if you like or you don't like the game. Gameplay works as it should, and that "dimension shifting" thing is cool, but the truth is the game is so short you will start to think that developers don't want it to last a bit more to avoid more technical problems. Not a bad game, but you will survive without it.

Decent visuals and price but held back in other areas

Legolas_Katarn

Rising Islands is an indie 3D adventure game with a focus on platforming. Usually, an indie platformer would go for a 2D art style but Rising Islands ends up looking better than you would expect a game of this price to look but the environment just isn't that interesting. Gameplay mechanics involve shifting between blue and red which allows you to access different platforms, this is mechanic that has been featured in a lot of platformers to better effect or to tie in with the themes of the story. The music is uninteresting, as is the game's story. The game can be completed in a short amount of time and is likely the reason for the low price and why they were able to take the time for 3D visuals. You can do worse but the game just has no original ideas and most of what it does do is either average or mediocre.
