This game isn't a highly polished, AAA experience with 60 hours of content - and that's fine, because not every game needs to be. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a medium-length weekend romp with fun gameplay, and the closest thing to Spider-Man 2's webslinging we've seen in a game again. The story isn't superb, but the amount and variety of Spidey villains that turn up over the course of the missions are surprisingly vast. In addition, the costumes you can unlock in the base game alone are fantastic - you've got all sorts of costumes from the comics, more obscure threads, and of course, the suits from the Amazing Spider-Man films - which I stuck with the most. If you can snag a good deal I'd recommend this game to any Spider-Man or superhero fan.
I'm not saying it's bad after all I've spent many hours playing. The combat is creative and fun, and stealth is a key aspect at some points. It gets tired seeing the same enemy faces sometimes and side quests are repetitive. Though collecting the in-game collectables is very challenging at times, but yet very enjoyable. Boss fights and plot are GREAT and actual have you playing for days on end. But when you total beat the game it gets boring, though I recommend going back every once in a while to play.
I've been a Spider-Man fan for as long as I can remember since I first watched the Spider-Man cartoons on tv. Spider-Man 2 is really one of the Spider-Man games to have graced Spider-Man fans like myself. First off, the story is great because not only do you get to see villains like King Pin and Kraven the Hunter but there are numerous references to the movies and the Spider-Man lore. I felt as if the game really rewarded fans of Spider-Man with things like that and it really holds the game up despite its flaws. My favorite thing about the game has got to be all the Spidey suits you can unlock by completing the hide-outs. Most games today would charge you for things as simple as costumes! The game however suffers from unresponsive combat and it doesn't feel like you're actually Spider-Man when fighting. If anything, I would say it feels as if I'm Batman instead when fighting because the combat in the game feels as if you're a brawler, not an agile hero. The worst thing about the game is the fact that the side-missions are more or less required because failure to do them reduces Spider-Man's reputation from a hero to a menace. Secondly, the side-missions are very boring and can get tedious very fast. I think Spider-Man 2 is a great game for Spider-Man fans but not so much for regular gamers unfamiliar with the superhero.
