Humorous Point & Click homage to the RPG and fantasy genre.
About 20 hours of gameplay in a massive game world with detailed graphics.
Multi-character gameplay: Play as Wilbur, Nate, Ivo, and the Critter - in turn or simultaneously - and use the skills of your heroes wisely.
Meet numerous crazy characters - from two-headed ogres and vegetarian dragons to good-natured zombies.
Solve over 150 mind-boggling puzzles and discover more than 300 items that can be used and combined.
This game is actually pretty weak at times, especially with done to death jokes and references, like Lord of the Rings (because fantasy), Star Trek/Star Wars (because those never get old), Psycho (...) and other memes that feel like beating a dead horse (so just like borderlands). Most of the characters are also extremely unlikable, mostly because they are clueless (Wilbur), clueless snobs (elf lady) - the only character that is actually fun in this game is Nate, adventurerer that is totally not inspired by character with the same name from Sony franchise, with his good friend Critter that has one of the most annoying voices on the planet. Most of the puzzles are sadly extremely easy, but the game itself has right lenght to not want to punch the characters, around 10 hours. It also has cliffhanger ending. Not bad, but the sequels got better.
I really enjoyed this point and click adventure. The puzzles were just the right difficulty, and the art style was great. Looking forward to playing The Critter Chronicles, and Part 2. Definitely recommended to fans of the genre.
Great music, acting, humorous writing, and nice visuals. The actual story isn't that interesting, involving an unexpected hero trying to find a powerful artifact before evil does, but it makes up for it by having a likable cast of characters both main and supporting. Most of the puzzles are enjoyable and more on the simple side, which I much prefer to the nonsensical solutions found in a lot of adventure games, I prefer continuing the story but some people will want more difficult puzzles. The game will likely take close to 15 hours for most people to finish it, making it a fairly lengthy adventure game. My only real complaints is the frequent stale cliched references to things like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Monkey's Island and that there can be a lot of backtracking when you are in the larger areas of the game.
You don't need to be adventure games fan to love The Book of Unwritten Tales. It's a great game. Graphics really fits this fairy tale game and with fantastic music it builds something amazing. This game have also great humour and references to some more popular games and movies. It's not a short game and you will need more than one night to complete it. It's long enough to become acquainted with the characters. The Book of Unwritten Tales is a game that everyone will enjoy, so don't hesitate. It's worth every price.
It passed almost 10 years when i was playing an point and click adventure game(Syberia), so when i start to play this one i asked myself why i don't play that genre games more often. Because now i know i what i missed. The book of unwritten tales is one great experience that you will not forget for some time. Game with great graphics, awesome puzzles and lots of humor(especially converted to World Of Warcraft), that will make you laugh. Good storyline in 5 chapters will push u to play to the end of game. Only complaint that i have is perhaps is a little too short. Definitely recommended to all fans of the genre and others who want real fun
