Drive the most famous steam locomotive in the world! Flying Scotsman, 100 years of speed, endurance and elegance summed up in 97 tons of legendary steam traction. In its centenary year and beyond, bring the power and glory of this iconic loco into your own home with Train Sim World 4!
Needing little introduction, Flying Scotsman is a rail icon that has stood the test of time. Designed by Sir Nigel Gresley initially as an A1 Pacific, Flying Scotsman rolled out of Doncaster Works in February 1923, although it did not bear its name until 1924, when the loco was chosen to operate the LNER’s new non-stop service “The Flying Scotsman”.
Mid-way through Flying Scotsman’s mainline career, it was transformed into the much-improved A3 Pacific, featuring a higher-pressure boiler with more efficient steam flow, which saw it shine into the latter years of the steam era. Its prominence prompted preservation, making Flying Scotsman the only surviving, non-streamlined Gresley Pacific.
Following 100 years of successes, including entering world fame with record-breaking runs, world-class exhibitions, as well as American and Australian tours, the National Railway Museum is celebrating this locomotive’s special heritage, and you can too!
Presented in modern preserved condition, adorning late Brunswick Green livery, smoke deflectors and its later BR number (60103), the legendary Flying Scotsman is raring for centenary service in Train Sim World 4.
