By now you may have noticed that E3 is merely a few days (we even have a dedicated hub celebrating all things E3 2017 right here). So we thought it would be a great idea to list some great games that have been announced over E3’s lifetime. Here we go.
We thought the Doom franchise was on a permanent hiatus back in 2012. E3 changed that however, as DOOM 3 was officially revealed to the masses. This was the first time that the franchise had seen the light in 18 years, and the fact it was more survival horror focussed sent DOOM fans wild. Check out the reveal trailer below.
As comic book fighting games go, DC really didn’t have a brilliant back catalogue. However, when Injustice: Gods Among Us was revealed back during E3 2012, this game paved the way for both DC and fighting games in general. Injustice came as a massive surprise as NetherRealm were riding off of the success of Mortal Kombat 9 and making a DC comics focussed game around using the same mechanics and story telling techniques was a match made in heaven.
Portal 2
Nothing is better than GlaDOS and Gabe Newell taking over the Sony conference to announce Portal 2 at E3 2010. The fact that Gabe Newell isn’t afraid to take the micky out of himself on stage is pretty awesome too.
Zelda Twilight Princess
The last minute surprise announcement of Zelda Twilight Princess during Nintendo’s press conference at E3 2004 for want of a better phrase sent the games industry loopy. You can check out the reveal trailer below.
The Launch Price Of The PlayStation
Considered as one of the best mic drop moments in games industry history, here is Sony announcing the $299 price of the PlayStation at E3 1995. The PlayStation console was $100 cheaper than the Sega Saturn.
That’s it for our best E3 moments. If you have any epic E3 announcements that we have missed, then feel free to let us know in the comments below.
