Blizzard has taken action against over 480,000 Overwatch accounts, which has created a high volume of work. This has slowed progress of the popular shooter in other areas.
Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan stated in a development update video yesterday that there is a “rising tide of toxicity and bad behaviour” within the Overwatch community. As reported by Gamesindustry.biz, back in July, Blizzard announced that that it was going to overhaul its reporting system. Kaplan stated that over 20,000 players have reported toxic behaviour since the games “pilot program”, these players have now received emails updating them on the action that has been taken.
