With January behind us we can start to look forward to the rest of the year, and what a year it’s shaping up to be. Full of new games, new releases, and new announcements – 2021 looks like a gaming year to remember. Here’s all the gaming news you need to know from the last two weeks.
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Gets Details, Launch Date
The long-awaited overhaul of the first three Mass Effect games has received a brand new trailer, along with a launch date. It isn’t just a visual update, however, as many gameplay changes are coming to the classic sci-fi series. The first game will receive the most updates, including faster load times, raised level caps, combat enhancements, and more. Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is launching on May the 14th, 2021 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4 – with added compatibility for next-gen consoles.
Fall Guys Season 3.5 Bounces Into Action
Fall Guys’ latest update has launched, bringing with it a new round, over forty variations for existing rounds, new shows and costumes coming over the coming weeks, and new costumes in the store inspired by Godzilla, Sonic, and Goose Game. The mid-season update has been titled, by the community, “stop with the yeets name it anything else just don’t include the word yeet please im begging you”, and you can check out the patch notes here.
Hitman 3 DLC in the Works
Developers IO Interactive have confirmed that DLC for Hitman 3 is in the works – though they have not yet nailed down what form that DLC will take just yet. In an interview with The Gamer, executive producer Forest Swartout Large confirmed that they “are definitely going to be doing some DLC, but we haven’t defined what that is,” but that they are “not looking at new maps like the bank and the island,” for now, anyway.
Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen to Launch Next Week
Destiny 2’s thirteenth season will be launching on the 9th of February, 2021 and will be called the Season of the Chosen, running until the 11th of May. A new Battlegrounds activity will be included, seeing players fight Cabul empress Caiatl’s warriors as part of the ongoing storyline, as well as a cornucopia of Strikes. Older Strikes The Devil’s Lair and Fallen SABER will return, and a brand-new Strike titled PRoving Grounds will launch during the season itself.
Biomutant Launch Date Revealed
After a lengthy silence, Biomutant has received a launch date of May the 25th, 2021 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Speaking to IGN, Experiment 101 studio head Stefan Ljungvist explained that a period of quiet was needed to quash bugs without having to incur a period of crunch. As the game has become more complex, so the opportunity for more bugs has increased, and the team has been quietly working away in the background making sure the game is a fully-finished product for launch.
Resident Evil Village Lady is Tall
Finally, we have the news you’ve all been waiting for. In a tweet, Capcom have announced via Twitter that (hat and hells included), Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu is 2.9 metres tall, or 9’6”. You’ll get to put that to the test yourselves on the 7th of May, 2021, when Resident Evil Village launches on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
