The recent price hike for We Happy Few was met with disdain by those who were interested in the Early Access title from Compulsion Games when it rose from $29.99 to $50.99. Although a price increase was always planned for the game, since Gearbox’s involvement in the scope of the game, fans quickly turned the blame on Gearbox.
Now as the Steam has been overwhelmed by negative reviews of the game due to Gearbox’s involvement and the price hike, Matt Fox, a senior designer at Gearbox has taken to Twitter to defend the critique, saying “”We” didn’t do that. $29 was set before the huge reception of WHF & Compulsion chose to add a campaign & content worthy of full retail. :)”
