What a fantastic game this has been so far for me, performance issues are glaring from the word go and can be offset with some graphical settings tuning however they will not be manageable to a reasonable level until the multiple layers of DRM are lifted and the CPU usage drops below the high 90's. With that disclaimer out of the way I can truly say that this is the only AC game i've enjoyed since Black Flag and is quickly becoming my favourite of all the AC titles. The world is HUGE, truly massive and vibrant. For the first time I feel at scale with my surroundings in any open world game, standing next to a massive stone block from a partially constructed pyramid dwarfs my character and makes me feel tiny in this world. The draw distance is second to none, the graphics as a whole are absolutely beautiful and compete easily with the likes of the Witcher 3. 60FPS is achievable at a mixture of very high/ ultra with AA off 1440p/ (gtx 1070 oc w ryzen 5 1600 (3.8) 16gb DDR4 3000mhz ram). Many professional reviews I read before buying criticised the combat system, I found this to be very un-justified. The combat system is new and interesting, there is no comparison between the days of two button combat from the previous titles. The lock on system can be a massive hindrance in engagements of multiple foes and I find it so much more manageable to just ignore "lock on" 90% of the time. Each weapon group feels unique enough to make it fun to change out your weapons just to see how you can alter the way you play. In conclusion, at the current sale price with the extra 17% off I find it to be a well worthwhile buy. Take note of the performance issues because they are severe and disruptive at times, I go on in the hope that as the game ages we may see more effective optimisation through patches (they have already begun this process with a major patch). The pros out weigh the cons here and if you are looking for an open world, exploration type game you wont go far wrong with this.
AC: Origins is fresh, innovative and breathtakingly beautiful. Being able to go back in time to ancient Egypt and able to explore all the amazing world wonders and monuments there will definitely get your fellow history nerds sweating. The combat is a much improved and breath of fresh air to the franchise, the characters are like-ably, the plot is enjoyable and the exploration is top notch.
After being disappointed by the last 2 Assassins Creed titles (Unity had ok gameplay but a hollow story and Syndicate was just a glorified treasure hunt) I'm really happy with Origins. Gameplay is great, the choice between stealth and open confrontation is very open and not forced, and there's very little focus on crafting and grinding compared to the past two titles. Even a lot of the scavenger hunt objectives have some sort of story connecting them to the game world. Which is my next point, the game world is massive, but also intricately detailed and mostly accurate (I'm an archaeology nerd). There's a lot to explore and some very nice little things that just show the design team put a lot of effort into it. I also really like the choice of Ptolemaic Egypt as a setting as it's a bit unique and different from the usual classical Egypt setting we usually see in games/movies/tv series. The story itself is a little predictable but nonetheless it is interesting and connected to the game and the characters actually had some personality to them. I'm still not finished sadly as it is quite a big game but I'm enjoying it immensely.
Assassin's Creed: Origins almost delivered everything it has promised the fans of the series before its launch via varied videos and announcements and I'm really happy to see another great and fantastic Assassin's Creed game in the series once again! the story is deep and involving with many side missions and quests which makes you keep track of the game all the time and the visuals and artistic design for the game is astonishing and the game is really optimized and despite some major cities and crowded areas , it runs smooth and without any serious problems, the sounds and audio are really great but i think there could be more potentials in this area of the game, because sometimes you can't hear any background musics where they are needed, the gameplay is the best part of the game and the reworked combat system of the game is really awesome which made the game like The Witcher series in this area and it's really good to be honest, there are also lots of puzzles and tombs to discover for treasures and cool and stronger weaponry and equipment which makes the exploration more fun than ever! the upgrading system for your weapons and armor is really great and you feel you are playing a far cry game where you need to hunt down in order to gain ingredients needed to upgrade and improve your equipment. Assassin's Creed: Origins is absolutely a great comeback to the series and managed to satisfy most of its fans and I highly Recommend this game to every fan of the series!
I've played every AC game except the handheld ones but this one is something that really reinvigorated the AC formula. First it is now an RPG game, there is a tree that uses 3 variations, the bow, the weapons, or the tricks, tools and etc. It's combat is not the typical counter and kill system, it revolves around using your weapon, shield, bow, dart, firebomb and more. The variety of weapons in this game is impressive, different types of weapons and you will continually find them as you level up, you can upgrade to keep ones you want. Very good weapon gameplay and progression, this accounts for armor and horses as well you can buy them or get them by various means fun nonetheless. Crafting is very similar to far cry, you hunt animals and get some ore and you can upgrade a little for your weapons or tools from the resources. The world is huge and packed with lots to do from side missions, hunting, bandits, etc, the side missions in particular are fun to play for the most part, taking cues from The Witcher 3 which I think is a great idea. The main character feels like the fastest in the series to date, no more holding run (which I love) and parkour feels great in ancient Egypt. Horse or camel riding controls well, auto-run is a godsend, and your eagle. The eagle is the smartest use of "eagle" vision in the series IMO, the bird controls well, you can tag enemies with it or just survey and variety of other things once you unlock it from the skill tree. I am playing on a 1080TI and it runs at 60fps smoothly no more crashes since update so far. The world looks amazing, seeing ancient Egypt and everything going in such detail is amazing, best looking game I've played on my pc so far. Buy it if you love the AC series, while more challenging it is the change of pace needed for the series.
