Game description

With Twenty five scenarios in which you must manage your crew’s strengths and weaknesses, test your pilot and leadership skills. This is your team, they are under your command, and it is your job as a cap-tain to complete the mission and take them home in one piece.

See what it was like to be part of a 10-man crew on dangerous bombing missions over occupied Europe. In addition, you are able to switch sides and fight against “The Mighty Eighth” taking the role of a German Luftwaffe pilot and find out first hand why the B-17 bomber codename was the “Flying Fortress”.

A Flying Fortress

Ahh...if only there were more games like this today in the simulator genre. B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th is a wholly unique flight sim from 2000 that choose to focus on the bomber campaign of WWII. While most combat sims have plenty of bombers modeled and maybe even useable, The Mighty 8th focuses with a more in-depth feel on the story and crew of these machines. Great for their time, The Mighty 8th doesn't look too good now, but plays well enough. The campaign is very cool, allowing you to join up and customize your bomber and crew. Management of that crew while surviving the missions is challenging and very accurate for a game. B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th is well worth it for combat flight sim fans that may have missed out back when this first arrived. If you can get past the 14 years that have gone by since this was on the market, it's a must play.
