The prophecy has been fulfilled. The world shall be ruled by the dragons. On an island far away, their lords prepare for the conquest of the lands. There is only one hope for mankind. The emperor sends out four heroes – warriors and magicians – to solve the puzzle of tears and prevent the invasion of the Drakkhen.
Drakkhen is a role-playing game with a visual presentation that combines 3D landscapes and 2D interiors. The player will encounter monsters and fight them in real-time combat, and discover the palaces of the dragon lords. Indoors, the player has to find a way through the maze of chambers, solving puzzles and defeating the minions of the Drakkhen.
Drakkhen is really old game that is mostly remembered as a mess spread across nearly every console and PC there was back in the day. It's your simple RPG with auto-battle with some small Dungeons and Dragons going on around with dices, dungeons and, well, dragons, who are rulers in the world of Drakkhen. While graphics and OST are actually not that bad, it lacks something that we call today balancing, and boy, this game needed that a lot. First of all, only fighter and scout are worth anything in this game with scout being incredibly OP, priest is rarely useful (you will use resurrection spell rarey) and mage is useless, because spells cost way too much to cast and most of the time you will use maybe one or two fireballs, unless you will grind, which is hard, because only one getting EXP in this game is the one who kills the monster (so pretty much like Pokemon without split EXP item). As for the story, it's huge errand/fetch quest that rarely makes sense and the ending being so confusing, even dragons don't know what they actually want. So overall, meh game that has some small cult following, but it's not something to write home about. If you have itch for some really old and awkward RPG, go for it. Or just play Ultima games.
