Holy Potatoes! We're in Space?! is a space adventure game with management elements and turn-based combat. Manage your very own spaceship and explore a procedurally generated universe with dozens of planets to explore for resources, and enemies you can encounter for intergalactic space battles.
Encounter a cornucopia of space races, such as cosmic carrots, zany zucchinis, obnoxious onions, and even space whales! Take part in epic boss battles and save your grandfather, Jiji, who was incarcerated by the evil federation, The Eclipse.
Holy Potatoes! We're in Space?! is an FTL style game starring sentient vegetables. It is has cute graphics and amusing and at times funny pun filled writing. Like FTL you will recruit and assign crew, outfit your ship, run into events that you can make different decisions during, and you have a limited amount of things to do in each area before moving on. What the game does different than FTL is having a focus on humor, a story with dialogue and main characters, a crafting system, and combat is turn based. The simple nature of combat might not be as enjoyable to some people as FTL, you will use energy points to activate and fire weapons at an enemy ships hull and weapons, place a shield over the component you want to protect most, and can activate a special ability when enough turns have gone by. It's not as tactically interesting as FTL or as exciting but it's ok for what it is and there are some good ship designs and entertaining conversations as the fight goes on, damaging an enemy ship can also lead to them offering to surrender and give you money or supplies. If the art style or type of humor appeals to you, or if you want a new FTL style game then this is worth a look.
Holy Potatoes! We're in Space is a good adventure game and turn-based battles with resources search in a space scenario where we can have battles or explore the different planets of this universe in search of objects to improve our arsenal and to be able to win future Battles. This game has a rather loose story in which we are told that the grandfather of our protagonist is imprisoned by a federation of evil. But the game is quite entertaining.
