Choose your tag team and rip through massive hordes of enemies with exciting aerial and ground-based combos. Look out, though - take too many hits and your clothes and defense will end up shredded!
The world of Gamindustri is experiencing a strange calm - the Goddesses protecting each nation are all at peace, and there's not an apocalyptic threat in sight! In order to shake things up with a good story, the world's leading journalists Dengekiko and Famitsu challenge the CPUs and CPU Candidates to complete a series of missions but soon they all may be in for a far bigger scoop in this action-packed hack 'n' slash!
Street brawling in 1080! For the first time ever, your favorite Neptunia characters will have to hack ‘n’ slash their way through waves of enemies in real time! In the free-roaming stages, you’ll get to create chain combos both on the ground and in the air, all with 1080p graphics!
Two-person party! With the Dual System, you’ll be able to switch between two characters on the battlefield. Balance out each character’s strengths and weaknesses to create the ultimate battle duo, and even get some new playable characters – some of whom might be familiar from previous Neptunia games.
Let’s get physical! The heat of battle can cause some wear and tear on your outfits. When you experience a “Costume Break,” your outfits will tear, lowering your defense but increasing your critical rate and EXE Drive Gauge. The road to comebacks is paved with ripped fabric!
Skills get the kills! Fill up the EXE Drive Gauge in order to clear the room with two tiers of special attacks, and you might just get a helping hand from your friend later on to perform some super special attacks!
As the title may suggest, this is more of an action game than your typical RPG that you may be accustomed to if you are a Neptunia fan. Things play out more like a hack and slash type of game with the stages usually having a goal to reach with killing everything being a large part of it. The controls are pretty simple for a game like this with the story being even more simple. PROS -The Neptunia cast in a different type of game. -Combat seems fluid and the controls very responsive. -A decent roster of characters to pick from. -A new armor break system that is both good and bad. It is nice to see the damage that battles like these cause, but it is taken a little too far. CONS -The arenas are a little small. -The game can be a little too easy one moment then a little too hard the next. -The armor break system goes a little too far at times. It could have done so much more, but as is, the game is pretty good still.
The first of the Neptunia games to take on the alternate fighting/hack and slash formula that changes things up from the main series of games. It is highly fun and looks great for those into anime style games despite it being a port. A highly recommended game if you love all things Nep.
Hyperdimension Neptunia U : Action Unleashed is a spin-off originally released on the Playstation Vita. It's part of the Hyperdimension Neptunia and is an Action-RPG. However, the game is not without flaws. First, while the game might have looked decent on Sony's handheld console, it's now quite ugly compared to other PC games. At least, the game runs good in 1080p but the visuals and artstyle remain poor. The story is all new. No big threat this time. The goddesses are all at peace. In fact, the game is about a competition hold by Famitsu and Dengekiko (Yeah, the japanese websites/magazines) between CPUs and CPU candidates. Unfortunatly, this new story doesn't improve the original formula. Like its predecessor, the game is full of silly dialogs, uninteresting sub-plots and, once again, the story seems more interested in bringing up a lot of fanservice rather than telling the player a decent story. About the fanservice, it's even worse this time with female characters that get their clothes torn up during the fights. Gameplay-wise, the game is mediocre. The system isn't deep nor worthy of any investment. It's all about button mashing and it's boring. You're looking for a good japanese RPG on PC? Don't bother trying Hyperdimension Neptunia U : Action Unleashed, it's bad.
Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is pure fanservice. The story is paper thin, the gameplay is repetitive, and the character designs as saccharine as ever. Still, if you are a fan of the Hyperdimension franchise, you will like this game. There is little to be said about Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed. You go around different areas killing hordes of nigh-braindead enemies, fighting bosses, leveling up, etc. The graphics look better on this new PC version and the new controls are ok for the most part, but there is not a lot that has been changed from the original PS Vita version. The music is the same, the voice acting is at the same quality (or lack thereof, depending on your opinion) as it has always been, and the gameplay mechanics are the same, including the cringe-inducing clothes ripping; this was made by the people who are responsible for the Senran Kagura series after all. There is little this game does to convince people to change their minds about the Hyperdimension Neptunia series. If you are a fan you will buy this game, and if you are not a fan you will not and should not buy this game. Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed is just one of those niche titles; it’s good, but only if you like Hyperdimension Neptunia. Your mileage may vary.
