Realpolitiks is a streamlined real-time grand strategy game that allows you to become the ruler of any contemporary nation. Dive deep into the issues of the modern world, with its current geopolitical borders, using your country's power and economic strength to engage in military conflicts and international affairs. Choose your own method of coping with other nations' interests, unexpected events, global threats and various crises. Deal with the disintegration of the European Union, the expansion of Islamic State, the aftermath of World War III and many other real and fictional scenarios.
Based on three main political systems (democracy, authoritarianism, totalitarianism), Realpolitiks allows you to extend the influence of your country through various means, all in order to win the race for global domination. Use your diplomatic skills, economic advantages, military power and the full freedom of moral and ethical decision-making to become a world superpower and ensure the well-being of your citizens.
Grow and develop your nation to the highest possible levels of economic power, technological competitiveness and military supremacy in globally-ranked charts. The choice is yours as to whether you become a valued member of the United Nations, or a nuclear tyrant, bullying all those around you. Expand your territory any way you like with the whole-world sandbox gameplay of Realpolitiks, even creating colonies out at sea. And if that's not enough, try spreading the seed of our civilization to outer space...
I've long thought that a good strategy game is one that focuses on just that: Strategy. Not having to memorize economic spreadsheets, or micromanaging units, for example means that the player can really focus on what matters most in a strategy game: Ruthless and sometimes reckless fun. Realpolitiks is a great entry point for people trying to get into games that simulate running a country; fans of games like Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron, or even Civilization may find the economy or combat a bit simple, but Realpolitiks is not a game of complexity. It is much like checkers to Hearts of Iron's chess. Both require strategy and thinking ahead. In other words, this game is very easy to get into and play, but difficult to master. Graphics: 85/100 (Illustrations are nice and clean, and everything functions, but it's no Civilization V or Total War.) Gameplay 95/100 (see above paragraph) Replay Value 95/100 (it'd be nice if every country had it's own special objectives, but considering there's a ton of countries PER scenario....)
If you're looking for the next Europa Universalis, Super Power 2 or Supreme Ruler, you are going to be disappointed. There certainly isn't the depth, swarms of mechanics and newbie daunting complex gameplay to be found here. Realpolitiks as a game, is more of an ideal "beginners" stepping stone into a genre which normally has a rather high learning curve. That said, for someone like myself who enjoys the complexities of the genre, this is actually an enjoyable, more casual arcade style experience that is still fun. For those looking to get a taste of either these experiences, I can most certainly recommend it. That said, more elements, scenarios, and gameplay additions would be welcome to pad the game out a little more. There's a great foundation just asking to be worked upon, so I do hope the developers use this potential moving forward and gives Realpolitiks the extra post-release support it deserves!
It's a simple and very enjoyable strategy game. However, many of Realpolitiks features are oversimplified. This isn't a game for hardcore grand strategy fans.
Realpolitiks is a strategy game in real time for me it is a little time because it combines strategy with world politics and how to determine the geopolitical situations of each country and determine what is the best way to help that country to better its situation Economic to the point of making it a world power or take arms measures to defend the nation from attacks from other countries, as strategy is the same as other games of its kind so it does not bring anything new, but as for what The political strategy that if is new at least for me
