Game description

Please note that is product is an expansion and requires Sid Meier's Civilization® V in order to run.

The period of Classical Antiquity saw the rise of city states from Phoenicia, Greece, and later Rome and Persia.

Their struggles all centered on the great sea in the “Middle of the Earth," hence the name Mediterranean. This map covers the entire Mediterranean basin including the nearby peninsulas and coasts where these great empires grew and prospered.

The Cradle of Civilization map packs are Firaxis-designed maps of real-world locations. You can play random leaders in these settings, or choose leaders appropriate to the history of these areas. The maps can also be opened up in World Builder, where you can even create specific scenarios.

Reviews for Sid Meier’s Civilization® V: Cradle of Civilization - Mediterranean

70
As advertised

The pack behaves as advertised. It comes with the Mediterranean maps, but doesn't really add much game play other than the map area itself. You can create your own scenarios using the map editor to make things interesting or to share with friends and the internet community, but that is about it. The map pack is good if you want to act out Mediterranean wars, which is fun. I used this map and others for a YouTube series to act out historical wars in the map area and it was pretty popular so if you make YouTube videos of this game it is a good consideration as to a reason to buy this pack. I give it a 70 due to the limited uses of the pack, but it does do exactly as it states.

Fix Multiplayer!

In single player, this map is brilliant in the game (although a little expensive, but what can you do). The map has been well thought through with a nice terrain to sea ratio. This added another several hours of gameplay to the game for me, which was nice as I have already exercised the main game enough. However, in multiplayer, all players must have the DLC in order to use the map, which remains the case with all Civ 5 dlc. Fix this Firaxis!
