Speedball 2 HD is a modern reincarnation on the classic, futuristic cyberpunk sports game Speedball, originally developed by the Bitmap Brothers and first released for the Atari ST in 1990. A brutal mix of handball and ice hockey placed at break-neck pace. Now Tower Studios, Vivid Games and The Bitmap Brothers have created a glorious fusion of classic gameplay and modern technology to launch this game into the 21st century.
In 2326, rival gangs formed an ultra-violent street sports league called Speedball to settle their deadly disputes. Two teams face each other in bloody battles for a steel ball: Nine on nine – in an all-out rush on the opponents’ goal. Almost any malicious move is permitted. The winner of the matches secures supremacy over the city.

There are a huge variety of game modes and options - quick matches, single player tournaments, one-on-one multiplayer and full career mode. I have never been a fan of games like Fifa for the express reason that I was unable to wound enemy players. Speedball 2 allows me that constitutional right but why then the negative review? The very nature of sports game is competition yet SB2 does not possess an online mode. The AI is terribly predictable most of the time and dreadfully random at others. This inconsistency creates a both stressful and boring singleplayer. The gameplay itself is highly simple and can feel rewarding at times but the frenetic nature of a match means that more often than not, you are not feeling that you are doing anything. Team Management is an aspect of the game, but fundamentally useless and makes little effect on the game. The game is at its best with local 2-player - but there are alternatives that are better.
The Game really does bring back memories of the former speedball games, but i was more fan of Powerball which was amazing. The game is really simple doesn't require much of thinking u only have one button which basically does every thing pass, shoots and tackles and the movement controls which is a big problem some times u want to pass it shoots and vise versa. The game has an upgrade system for players where you add points to attributers for making player stronger and stuff. the game has a Local only multiplayer which is a must but i really wished for an online game where one can host a game for other to join.
The premise for the game is simple which sets you two straightforward objectives: Beat the team (literally) to the ground or score enough goals to win the game. This game caters to both the mean hearted and the peacekeeper in terms of winning the game. Knocking out any of the opposing team can score you just as many points as scoring a goal itself so no judgements there if you choose to take everyone out. "Don't hate the player, hate the game". This is overall an incredibly satisfying game to win via knockouts though just as rewarding if you choose to win through a more peaceful means. My only gripe (and a big one at that) is that a game like this would work wonders with some multiplayer action against other players rather than just the AI.
