Requires Stellaris (base game) to use this DLC
Plantoids is the first major DLC package for Stellaris, Paradox Development Studio’s science fiction grand strategy game. It is the first Species Pack, introducing a new phenotype for players with original art and animations. As the title implies, Plantoids will give Stellaris fans access to a plant-like species that has gained sentience and begun to spread its tendrils across the galaxy, planting the roots of new civilizations on new planets.
Plantoids will include:
• Fifteen new species portraits
• New templates for plantoid civilian and military ships
• New cityscape art.
The devs have been adding more and more portraits to the game for free but decided to make this one cost money. Kind of an interesting choice in my mind so I find it hard to value (or rate in this case) so I suppose it comes down to what you enjoy from the game. The dlc gives an entire new species tree to pick from, new ships, new city portraits, new names and everything else associated with a race. Also adds the cute species into several other of the races. Probably a little too pricey considering the minimal content, and nothing game changing really. However it does provide more variety in the universe which does increase the immersion for me personally. But I would definitely recommend waiting to get it on sale for those interested.
Stellaris' Plantoids Species Pack adds in some different cosmetic options for the game, this includes new species portraits, new ship design types, and new art for the cities on your planets. Having more variety to the game is nice and it's great seeing different looks for fleets, space stations, and cities that can be used by you or other species. The new appearance options look really good as well, though the game did already have a good amount of options in the base game. For something that is just cosmetic the price might be a little high but I think would still be worth it. The problem with this is that it is all cosmetics and the game already allows modders to add in new things like this at no cost you and with a lot of variety, it would have been nice to see more in game events or a bit more detail on the new ship type. If you enjoy the game and want to support the developer this can still be worth picking up, issues aside.
