This game is very different to other Final Fantasy games. So far that I played I enjoyed it. The combat system consists of stacking monsters. S/M/L. Your char can be either L/S. For example if I'm in Large mode i can stack a Medium sized monster on top of my head and small monster on top of the medium. This sounds very confusing but when you're in game you get used to it. The system is a lot like Pokemon you catch monsters you have them in battle with you, they each have a skill tree that you can customize and evolve. With each monster being different sized and evolves to different sizes makes you re think and switch party here and there. It's a nice game when it comes to the customization part. Along your journey you meet a lot of known faces through ur journey example Rikku/Rydia/Tuna wont spoil it to much. (tons more you meet). Even places from FF games you know exist! The best part is the music nostalgic trip back in time. This game a lot of people might love the new direction a lot might dislike it but if games never try new paths and dare to take risks we never get great games. The only reason I took a star off is because some parts the game can be a bit easy unfortunate.
World of Final Fantasy sounds like a great idea - return to the roots of the series, but there are some bumps and weird decisions coming with it. Gameplay is decent - turn based strategy gameplay instead of auto-battle boredom like in XII or XIII is great! I liked all of the classic FF games from 1 to 7, so if you played a lot of those, you will feel like at home. Music is beautiful as always in the Final Fantasy series and there are absolutely no complains there, same goes for the quality of cinematics. However, the weird thing about this game is the fact that they decided to make it kids friendly to welcome children to this series, but problem with that is it throws a lot of nostalgic things at the players, like summons being characters from older Final Fantasy games, like Squall or Cloud. How younger players should feel nostalgic for those characters is beyond me and it creates somewhat identity crisis, because it tries to cater to new and old players, but kind of fails at both, because it might look too cute for some (in my opinion, graphics are wonderful, but the chibi characters can look pretty bad) and it is also pretty easy game, which is a huge corridor. Perfect for young ones starting their adventure with gaming or series, but there is nothing new or challenging for the veterans here. Overall, good game, but you must come to it with right expectations. 8/10.
