EA announced at the Star Wars Celebration today that Star Wars: Battlefront II will be coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC on 17th November 2017 worldwide and is now available for preorder.
The reveal comes a days after a Battlefront II trailer was leaked on Vimeo and shared via Neogaf. EA shared the details of the Battlefront II story, which will be set in the 30 year period between the end of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. The game will now feature a single-player campaign mode, where players will take on the protagonist Iden Versio, who is in charge of an Imperial Unit, the Inferno Squad.
Lucasfilm said at the event, “We wanted to create a campaign that told a story we haven’t seen before in Star Wars,” Motive game director Mark Thompson said in a statement. “It was important for us to tell a new authentic story, one that gives players a brand-new perspective. By putting players in the boots of an elite member of the Imperial forces, we can show them what the battle was like from the other side.”
The multiplayer in Battlefront II will return, developed by DICE, and will cover all three eras of the Star Wars films, including the playable characters Rey, Luke, Yoda and Darth Maul. Each mode will support up to 40 players and the maps that have been confirmed and announced by EA include Yavin 4, Mos Eisley and Starkiller base. Space battles will also be a part of the game, where players will have access to more vehicles.
EA have confirmed that pre-order bonuses and content is available, as well as EA subscriber perks before release. Star Wars: Battlefront II is coming 17th November 2017.
