Following Azubu’s acquisition of Hitbox back in January, both live streaming platforms have today merged to form a new company called Smashcast. The newly formed company hopes to be a main competitor of Twitch.
Smashcast is now live online at www.smashcast.tv and to download for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Any ongoing traffic for Hitbox or Azubu will now be redirected to Smashcast.
“We’re excited to announce the completion of the merger of Hitbox and Azubu, along with the launch of the new Smashcast company name and brand. The new Hype-o-Meter feature for viewer engagement is just the first step in our long-term vision to create the best broadcaster-to-viewer experience in the world of esports and gaming,” said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Smashcast in a statement.
In addition, Smashcast have announced a new production facility in Vienna, Austria to ensure the quality of support they provide to their broadcasting and publishing partners.
