Borderlands Developer Reveals Project 1v1 Along With Closed Technical Test

Gearbox, the developer behind the Borderlands series has revealed its next title. Currently titled, Project 1v1 the game is a first person shooter but with a twist.

Gearbox describes Project 1V1 as a “competitive first-person shooter that combines the action of fast-paced 1v1 first-person combat with the metagame strategy of a collectible card game.” Currently that is all we know about the game so far, this information comes from the game’s website and email that was sent out to some fans (as reported by Gamespot).

There is a short closed technical test of Project 1v1 happening sometime this summer. Players can sign up for this test on the Gearbox website. The test will include a limited amount of players allows Gearbox to “test the online infrastructure and learn what players like you think about the game in order to inform and influence future development.”. International players are able to sign up but the serves will be hosted in North America.

This technical test for Project 1v1 will consist of three game modes, Challenge, Arena and Ranked. Challenge will let players take on their friends whilst Arena lets players take on the “current Arena champion,” to take their title. Ranked will let players take on opponents of a similar skill level. If players win in Ranked mode they will net experience points and crates containing new cards.

Currently the technical test appears to be for PC only as players are asked for their Steam Account. There has been no confirmation as to which platform Project 1v1 will be released on in the future.
