According to Gamesindustry.biz, over three times as many video games projects fail than succeed on Kickstarter.
The article reported that of the 50 most funded games on Kickstarter, 21 are video games and only five had received funds in the last 2 years.
However, tabletop games are doing much better on Kickstarter with Resident Evil 2 raising $1,050,000 and Kingdom Death raising over $12 million earlier this year. In total, tabletop games accounted for 24% of all money raised on successful Kickstarter projects for the first half of 2017.
Data from ICO Partners found that the amount pledged for video game projects was $9.4 million in the first half of this year compared to $28 million during the same period in 2013 at its peak.
