Vidme, the video sharing site that claimed to be a mix of YouTube and Reddit, is now shutting down. It is no longer possible to add videos or sign up to create a new account.
Vidme started in 2014 as a small competitor to YouTube, introducing different features which attracted around 1 million creators. The owners of the platform blame Facebook, Instagram and Twitter investing in video sharing, as well as big companies such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu and Apple creating their own high-end content.
Even though the platform had 25 million users in December, it barely touches YouTube’s 1.5 billion users per month.
