Genghis Khan to feature in Civilization VI

Publisher 2K Games and developer Firaxis have revealed that the notorious Mongolian chieftain Genghis Khan will feature in Civilization VI, as part of the popular sim-game’s Rise and Fall expansion pack.

Rise and Fall is due to arrive on February 8, 2018, and looks set to be an especially meaty item of downloadable content, since it will bring eight new civilisations plus nine new leaders to the game. To whet our appetites, 2K has released a new trailer featuring Genghis Khan.

Firaxis has also released a slew of details regarding precisely what Genghis Khan and his Mongol army will bring to Civilization VI, which you can find in a blogpost here. Among the highlights are a new unit type called the Keshig, a unique field headquarters called an Ordu, and a leadership ability for Genghis Khan himself, Mongol Horde.

Genghis Khan is a historical figure who captured the world’s imagination after emerging from Mongolia to conquer vast swathes of the world in the 13th century. He achieved that by amassing a fearsome fighting force and uniting Mongolia’s disparate tribes. He will bring a fascinating period of history to Civilization VI.
