Sega has teased what would appear to be a new Sonic racing game at the SXSW music show in Austin, Texas.
During a Sonic-centric panel discussion at SXSW, the very cryptic teaser trailer above emerged. It hints at a serious, car-based racing game (unlike Sonic R for the Sega Saturn, which was an on-foot racer, or the various kart-based Sonic racing games that have been released in the past). The “R” logo which features heavily in the video harks back to the logo of 1997’s Sonic R, however.
Right now, Sega is remaining tight-lipped about the new Sonic racer – the teaser video is even entitled “Top Secret”. However, the Japanese developer/publisher has also announced Yakuza Kiwami 2, a remake of 2006’s Yakuza 2.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 will feature a new campaign, set in the time-frame between the first and second Yakuza games, bringing Majima (also known as the Mad Dog of Shimano) to the fore. No doubt further details of both games will emerge in the near future: we’ll bring you those as soon as they do.
