Polish developer People Can Fly has opened two new studios, in Newcastle, UK and Poland.
As announced in a blogpost, the developer, best known for 2011’s BulletStorm and its work on the Gears of War franchise, is working on: “A new IP, a AAA shooter developed alongside Square Enix.” The new studios in Newcastle and the Polish city Rzeszów bring the company’s head-count to 150.
According to the blogpost, People Can Fly Newcastle includes developers who worked for Ubisoft – Ubisoft Reflections is based in Newcastle, and Sumo Digital has a studio there. The Rzeszów studio includes: “Around 30 developers that worked on Sniper: Ghost Warrior franchise.”
People Can Fly’s CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski said: “Since People Can Fly became an independent studio again, our ambition has been to build a team of talented and experienced developers that can develop the best AAA games. We decided in 2017 to open a new studio in Newcastle, the UK, to attract not only local talent, but also to attract the best developers within the UK. We want this team to grow to 20-30 developers within the next 12-18 months.”
Hopefully, the new IP on which People Can Fly’s now 150-strong team is working will make its first appearance at Square Enix’s press conference at E3 2018. As ever, we’ll keep you posted.
