Steam appears to have accidentally leaked the unannounced game Just Cause 4.
Last night, an advert for Just Cause 4 briefly appeared on Steam, before swiftly being taken down. It’s the second time that a new iteration of Avalanche Studios’ much-loved open-world action-adventure franchise has been apparently leaked, after the Walmart Canada website briefly listed it, along with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and Rage 2.
Both the latter games have since been confirmed as being in development by Ubisoft and Bethesda respectively, so with the E3 Show due to get under way next week, it would be reasonable to assume that Square Enix may be on the brink of revealing the existence of Just Cause 4 at its press conference there.
Just Cause developer Avalanche Studios has certainly been busy recently: it just announced Generation Zero. An: “Open-world action game set in 1980s Sweden, where hostile machines have invaded the serene countryside. Now you need to fight back! Go it alone, or team up with up to three friends in seamless co-op multiplayer. By utilizing battle tested guerrilla tactics, you’ll be able to lure, cripple, or destroy enemies in intense, creative sandbox skirmishes.”
And Avalanche Studios is also bringing its open-world expertise to Rage 2. Just Cause fans might want to tune into Square Enix’s E3 press conference, to see if it does announce Just Cause 4.
