Speculation is mounting that Fortnite’s sandbox-style Playground LTM is likely to arrive this week.
Based on the fact that Epic Games originally teased Playground LTM in May, it was expected to go live today, as part of the v4.5 update. However, that hadn’t happened by the time we went to press – but it is likely to appear before the end of this week.
Playground LTM will be Fortnite’s first attempt at a sandbox mode, in which players – along with up to three of their friends — will be able to roam around the map, finding ammo crates and treasure chests as well as building, without having to worry about fighting off the attentions of other players.
Epic Games describes Playground LTM thus: “Battle and build to your heart’s content with an extended period of time to roam around the map as well as increased resource generation. All treasure chests and ammo crates will be spawned, try droppin’ in different spots and scope out the loot. Friendly fire is on so you can scrimmage with your squad (up to 4 friends per match), but fear not, you’ll respawn immediately.”
The LTM designation stands for Limited Time Mode, so Playground won’t be around forever, and is likely to come and go as Epic Games gathers player-feedback and tweaks it. We’ll keep you updated about its arrival; and you might want to keep an eye on Fortnite’s website.
