CD Projekt Red releases 48-minute Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay video

Developer CD Projekt Red has released a 48-minute video showing a detailed walkthrough of Cyberpunk 2077’s gameplay.

The video was originally shown to journalists at the recent Gamescom show in Cologne, in lieu of hands-on time with the game. It triggered a welter of analysis, but now you can watch it yourselves and form your own opinions.

The video shows protagonist V – in this instance created as a female character – taking on a mission towards the beginning of the game, in which she and sidekick Jackie try to rescue a target individual and investigate “scavengers” who are killing people to harvest their implants for sale on the black market.

In the video, CD Projekt Red has inserted a lengthy disclaimer emphasising that the footage shown is very much a work in progress: “Change is inherent to game development and there’s a ton of things being modified every day. Our fear was (and kind of still is) that you’ll think what you just saw is how Cyberpunk 2077 will look.”

The hotly anticipated futuristic action-RPG still hasn’t acquired a firm release date. But if you want to keep abreast of the latest news, watch Cyberpunk 2077’s website.
