Gamescom claims that around 370,000 people attended this year’s iteration of the Cologne show, which constitutes a show record.
This year’s attendance comfortably outstrips last year’s 355,000, which was also a record for the show. It admittedly led to some fearsomely long queues to play this Christmas’s most anticipated games, but demonstrates Gamescom’s increasing popularity and importance.
Meanwhile, Gamescom has announced the winners of its annual awards. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, developed by From Software and published by Activision, won the top Best of Gamescom award, Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate won the public vote as most anticipated game at the show and Fortnite won the award for best stand at the show.
Next year’s Gamescom will run from August 20, 2019. For more information, keep an eye on the show’s website.
