Season 6 of Fortnite has gone live.
Among the highlights which the new season – officially entitled Darkness Rises – brings are the ability for players to have pets, a new consumable called Shadow Stones and an updated map which, Epic Games says, “Includes floating islands, a spooky castle, and more surprises.”
In addition, Darkness Rises brings a new enemy called the Riot Husky in Save the World mode. For the full lowdown on the new season, you might want to check its Patch Notes.
Season 6 also brings a new Battle Pass to Fortnite, which Epic Games describes thus: “A new Season means a new Battle Pass, packed with over 100 new rewards. It’s available right now in-game for 950 V-Bucks. When you purchase the Battle Pass you’ll instantly get two exclusive outfits, Calamity and DJ Yonder. Then play to level up and earn up to 100 rewards worth over 25,000 V-Bucks.
“Pets! Level up your Battle Pass to unlock Bonesy, Scales, and Camo, new critters that will join you on your journey across the map. These passive companions are always by your side, reacting to different situations you find yourself in. Similar to previous Battle Passes, you’ll be able to complete Weekly Challenges to level up and earn rewards faster. Complete enough Weekly Challenges and you’ll uncover even more exclusive rewards!”
Typically for a major update, Season 5’s introduction didn’t proceed entirely smoothly: a brief controversy arose surrounding the breast animation of Calamity’s Jubilation emote (as pointed out by FaZe Agony, which Epic Games has since corrected.
