Netflix’s The Witcher Series Casts Its Yennefer and Ciri

The upcoming Netflix series based on The Witcher property has found its female leads.

Following the blockbuster casting of Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, the team has followed up by revealing the actors portraying Yennefer and Ciri, Geralt’s love interest and adopted daughter respectively.

Speaking exclusively to The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Anya Chalotra will be playing Yennefer, with Freya Allan stepping into the boots of Ciri.

Chalotra’s previous credits include Agatha Christie thriller The ABC Murders and BBC drama Wanderlust.

Allan has previously been seen in post-apocalyptic AMC show Into the Badlands and is currently filming for the BBC’s reimagining of War of the Worlds for TV.

It’s amazing to see more talented actors join the show as the hype builds. Showrunner Lauren Hissrich has previously mentioned 2020 as a possible air date but also mentioned that the team is following the mantra of “quality comes before speed,” so who knows!

Hopefully, we’ll get a trailer within the year showcasing the visual style of the show and how the characters shape up in comparison to the source material and the video game adaptations.
