Elon Musk has been enjoying himself controversially on Twitter again, in response to a fake story entitled: “Elon Musk buys Fortnite and deletes it’.
In the tweet, Musk published a shot of the fake article (complete with a made-up quote from the Tesla and SpaceX-owning billionaire saying: “I had to save these kids from eternal virginity”) and added the line: “Had to been [sic] done ur welcome”.
Amusingly, Epic Games tweeted a response via the Fortnite account, consisting of an article about Musk’s intention to build a base on Mars in the next 10 years, adding the comment: “A whole decade, @elonmusk? Just build, LOL!” To which Musk replied: “Reality is hard”.
Preposterous conspiracy theory-style stories about billionaires buying companies in order to shut down the likes of Fortnite crop up every so often, but Musk is surely the only billionaire who would constitute the subject of such a story and then use it as fuel for a round of Twitter-banter.
