The hotly anticipated expansion for Crusader Kings 2, Holy Fury, dropped yesterday and is currently sitting at a very healthy ‘Very Positive’ review rating.
As well as adding features like Warrior Lodges and Legendary Bloodlines (so you can play as the distant relative of say, one Genghis Khan,) Paradox has hidden a very interesting easter egg in the game that is absolutely tongue-in-cheek.
If you use the fancy new ‘Random Worlds’ feature, you’ll be able to tinker with the ruling culture of the world, and after a few changes a new option will appear titled ‘Animal Kingdom.’
Hilariously enough, this will change the game so that the countries of the world are ruled by different species. Ducks can be kings, finally, as can man’s best friend and other, more exotic creatures like dragons and bears.
You can marry into the families of other species if you fancy, or just conquer the remaining few humans, crumble civilization into dust, and return order to the Animal Kingdom. Who needs historical accuracy!
So, if you’ve always had designs to start the Holy Waterfowl Empire, pick up the expansion and get to work. The hedgehog vassals aren’t going to rule themselves…
