Destiny 2’s Season of the Forge will bring new “pinnacle weapons” to the online first-person shooter.
Poised to kick off on November 27, 2018, Season of the Forge will supersede the current Season of the Outlaw. Developer Bungie said: “As announced last week, Season of the Forge will begin on November 27, 2018. On the day it arrives, we’re planning to release a brand new ViDoc and a full gameplay calendar to illustrate what awaits your Guardian for the rest of the year. What we have planned are not the post-launch expansions you may have played in years past. Your starside journeys will span three distinct seasons that will unfold over the rest of the year.”
One aspect of Season of the Forge which Bungie has detailed is the arrival of new pinnacle weapons. Previously, such weapons were only available to Crucible players, but the new season will add two weapons which can be acquired by playing Gambit or via Vanguard strikes.
The first pinnacle weapon, available via Vanguard strikes is a Fusion Rifle called Loaded Question. It has a unique perk called Reservoir Burst which Bungie explained thus: “When the battery is full, your next burst deals additional damage and causes enemies to explode on death.” It can be earned by completing a quest for Zavala and satisfying various other conditions (such as 500 Fusion Rifle kills).
A Precision Auto Rifle entitled Breakneck will be available to earn by playing Gambit – after taking on a quest from the Drifter and fulfilling various other criteria. And a Lightweight Grenade launcher called the Mountaintop will become available to earn via the Crucible – for which you will have to pump up your Glory score to Fabled (definitely a non-trivial exercise).
We’ll bring you Bungie’s promised video detailing everything which Season of the Forge will add to Destiny 2 as soon as it arrives. In the meantime, keep an eye on Bungie’s website.
