After the fan-favourite kart racer was left by the roadside following the announcement of Crash N.Sane Trilogy in 2016, it looks like we’re now going to see the PS1 get the remaster treatment.
Fuzzy car dice usually found hanging from the rear-view mirror were delivered to a number of journalists yesterday. This sounds inconspicuous, but the dice were a distinct orange colour similar to the pelt of a certain famous bandicoot.
Accompanying the delivery was a little note, a card that reads “Sliding into the Game Awards on 6/12 – Anonymous.”
This points to a reveal during Geoff Keighley’s ‘The Game Awards’, which is set to be broadcast this December 7 at 1:30 AM GMT.
If you’re still not convinced, consider that this PR tactic was used in almost exactly the same manner leading up to the reveal of Spyro Reignited Trilogy. Around that time journalists received dragon eggs with the note “Something’s about to hatch.”
Activision seems fairly keen to remaster PS1 classics at the moment and saw the fan demand for Spyro to come back, making that a reality with Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
Both the Crash and Spyro remasters performed superbly well, and seeing as Crash Team Racing has a fond place in the hearts of many youngsters who grew up chucking wumpa fruit at one another, this is a no-brainer.
