Last night’s The Game Awards in Los Angeles saw God of War scoop the Game of the Year award.
Sony Santa Monica’s latest epic also picked up the Best Game Direction and Best Action-Adventure awards, but in terms of volume, it was just pipped by Red Dead Redemption 2, which picked up four awards. Namely Best Narrative, Best Performance, Best Music and Best Audio.
Indie platformer Celeste won two awards – Best for Impact and Best Independent Game – as did Fortnite, which picked up the Best Ongoing Game and Best Multiplayer Game awards. Other awards were picked up by the likes of Overcooked 2, Monster Hunter World, Forza Horizon 4, Dead Cells and Dragon Ball FighterZ.
The increasingly influential annual awards ceremony also provided a platform for a number of publishers to announce new games. Among those were Ubisoft with Far Cry New Dawn, Warner Bros Interactive with Mortal Kombat 11, EA with Dragon Age 4 and Obsidian with The Outer Worlds, which has been described as Fallout: New Vegas in space.
